Community Guidelines

Respect the communities and people of Fundym. People are different. The internet and creativity allow people of different types to come together and thrive. Fundym should be a safe and intimate space for creators from all walks of the creative industry. For more information about benefits, please see our Benefit Guidelines.

How are these guidelines enforced?

Fundym is an open community. While you might disagree with every person's view, it could not violate our Community Guidelines. If you find a Fundym page that violates our community guidelines, please report it via our reporting tool. You can find out how to report creators or posts. The report will be reviewed by a member of the Trust & Safety Team. If our Community Guidelines are violated, the case manager will contact creators to inform them.

This is a commitment toward creators. We know that your livelihood is at stake. We do everything we can to make these decisions transparent and fair. Creators must feel that they can communicate with us. So, how does this translate into moderation? Our first instinct is to educate creators. This will help them to understand the rules and how they can be corrected. If the violation was particularly serious or intentional, we might take further actions such as suspending/removing an account. We might even ban Fundym creators from using Fundym in the most extreme cases.

Fundym may hold you responsible for the funds you raise. We may also be looking at your use of our platform's membership. When we refer to "On Fundym," it refers to the creations you fund on or through Fundym. We review a page to see how creations have been shared, linked to, and traffic coming from it. We give creators the chance to appeal any decision we make by contacting us with all relevant information. While we may not change our minds, we will always be there to listen.

Be safe. Be respectful. Make stuff

These Community Guidelines are intended to guide Fundym's growing community of creators. This isn't about creating a rigid framework of "right" and "wrong." Instead, it's about making Fundym a place where creators and communities can feel supported, excited, and happy while still allowing for differing, sometimes even contradicting, points of view.

These guidelines summarize a thoughtful, thorough, and live internal policy that we spent time defining and thinking about with the guidance of community and safety specialists. We proudly create these guidelines because they help creators create a supportive and safe environment that allows them to continue creating, sharing, and building intimate and lasting relationships.

Authenticity

Fundym is a platform for creators to create something new. However, you may not develop creations that infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others as a creator.

  • Fake pages and money can't be collected for something you aren't actually doing. You cannot, for example, create a fan page for someone else.
  • To deceive fundymers, you cannot pretend to be someone else or impersonate them by using the name or brand. We will be reviewing comedy and satire differently, as we believe that these subgenres were original creations.
  • Fundym cannot be used to fund non-activity or as a joke. Creators cannot use Fundym to collect funds for "not doing" something. For example, "I will quit twitting about rotten turnips if my monthly income is $300."

You can read more about our Copyright Infringement Policies in our Copyright and Trademark Policy.

Bullying, Harassment, and Threats

Fundym should not be a place where people harass or bully each other. We don't allow harassment or bullying because we want Fundym to feel safe for our communities.

While we recognize that celebrities, media, or other public figures may sometimes be the subject of harsh criticism, we believe it is a part of free discussion. Therefore, we do not condone the harassment of private figures or any actions that could affect their physical safety, no matter if they are public or private.

We want you to feel free to express your opinions, but we also want everyone to feel comfortable expressing their views. Even the most difficult conversations need to be handled most respectfully. These are the behaviors we want to encourage.

Bullying, harassment, and intimidation:

It is not possible to intimidate someone, whether you do so directly or through influence. When assessing whether someone has crossed a line, we take real-life interactions more seriously than online interactions. This is because it can be more dangerous and even lead to physical violence. We are less likely to act when both sides engage in the same behavior, such as public feuds.

Threats:

Fundym citizens should be free to voice their opinions without threatening another. We take threats of violence very seriously in this regard. Any threat to the well-being or creation of a group or individual will be dealt with. This includes threats such as stalking and inciting others to commit violence.

We recommend that you report this behavior to your local police if you feel you have been a victim.

Hate speech

Fundym connects creators with their fundymers around the globe. Fundym is a global platform that promotes creativity. Fundym does not allow for hate speech funding, such as calls for violence, exclusion, or segregation. This includes attacks against people based on their race, ethnicity, or religion.

We ask the following questions when reviewing accounts for possible hate speech violations:

  • Are the creations of historical or educational significance? We don't allow the swastika to propagandize hate or promote propaganda, but it is acceptable to use it in educational videos to discuss Germany under the Third Reich.
  • Is it possible to call for violence against someone because of a trait like the ones listed above?
  • Is it possible that the creator would glorify a group known to support ideologies that would fall under this policy as hate speech?
  • Are racial slurs used or negative portrayals of someone made based on characteristics like the ones listed above?

Although this list isn't exhaustive, we want to be open about operating in the gray areas between speech and actions. For example, it is possible to draw a fine line between hate speech and political comments. Would you please report the hate speech you find on Fundym?

18+ creations, mature themes

We want to be inclusive and diverse as we try to build a community. We don't want to reinforce or create arbitrary "right" or "wrong" frameworks, but we do want people to have the option of viewing adult creations.

Fundymers can make these critical decisions by separating adult content (content that contains mature themes) and all-audience material. We apply an 18+ flag for the former. If audio, visual or audiovisual creations depict explicit sexual situations (including nudity in sexual contexts), we define them as "mature themes." If their creations are inappropriate for children under 18, we ask that creators flag themselves as 18+. While the age threshold for creators may differ depending on where they are located, most places require that you have reached a certain level to view these creations or engage in these activities. Here is some guidance, but it is not exhaustive.

We consider these examples to contain mature themes.

  • Work depicting real people naked in sexual contexts
  • Illustrations and animations depicting nudity in sexual situations, as well as graphics or animations featuring sexual interactions
  • Audio content featuring simulated sexual interactions

We won't consider this content mature.

  • Photos of sculptures and paintings that depict nudity are not intended to be sexually satisfying do not contain this kind of content.
  • For educational purposes, works that depict nudity and sexual situations are intended.
  • Standup comedy featuring profanity and "adult" language

We ask that creators do not make public any Fundym pages. This includes profile pictures, descriptions of membership tiers, page banners, and so on. All audiences can find appropriate content. Fundymer-only posts should not contain content that depicts mature themes.

Nudity

Fundym allows you to post nude creations of real and fictional subjects. If your posts contain mature themes, please mark them as "Fundymer Only" to ensure that your page is marked as such.

You should not post or share any nude creations by anyone under 18 years old, including yourself. We are committed to child safety and will cooperate with law enforcement when we find child exploitation material. A separate section contains more information about our pornography policy.

We also understand that you might make more than one 18+ creation. That is fine with us. Your work will be reviewed within its context. If you have any concerns, let us know. We will give you guidance on how to maintain a dual presence.

Sexual services and pornography:

Fundym does not allow pornographic material and sexual services. We define this as "real people engaging sexual acts such as masturbation on camera" or "real people having sexual intercourse on video." Please refer to our Benefit Guidelines.

Graphic creations and offensive

Artists sometimes need to break the rules to create art that is thought-provoking. Therefore, we don't review graphic and offensive creations following strict black and white guidelines. Instead, we review creations within the context of the entire creator page.

We have zero-tolerance for the glorifying of sexual violence, including bestiality, child exploitation, and rape. This applies to animated, illustrated, and any other types of creations. Fundym reserves all rights to remove accounts that violate this guideline.

We do not permit any other fringe sexual fetish creations such as necrophilia or incest.

Because these situations are part of everyday life, we understand that incest and rape may be more complex topics than others on the list. The Trust and Safety team will consider the context when reviewing these types of creations. This includes personal, historical, and educational narratives. In addition, Fundym allows stories of survivors and fiction like Lolita.

Doxing

We strongly oppose doxing, which involves sharing private information about individuals or aggregating public information to intimidate them by harassment.

This is why we strongly oppose doxing. It is used to intimidate or silence people who have different views on the internet. It can lead to severe emotional trauma and put victims' physical safety at risk.

Doxing involves the sharing of private information. This is the most common form. This could include information like a home address or phone number. Private personal information may be defined in different ways. It could also mean that it is difficult to find.

It is also considered doxing when non-private information about an individual is gathered. We would also consider it doxing if a profile picture of someone was combined with their real names, all their social media accounts, and the city where they live.

We consider the context in which the information was shared. We will consider this doxing if it appears that the information was shared to make it easier for large groups to harass an individual.

Doxing can cause us to lose our ability to communicate with others. Doxing doesn't mean speech is being countered, but speech is closing down the ability of others to speak. It hinders us from sharing ideas, developing as individuals, and creating a safe environment for disagreement.

People who cannot use Fundym

Fundym empowers people financially. We restrict the media and projects that can receive Fundym funds. Also, Fundym limits who can and cannot get Fundym funds. For example, Fundym can ban anyone from creating a Fundym account if convicted or caught making credible threats or committing violent crimes.

Politicians:

Fundym cannot be used to finance your campaign for office or the political campaigns of other people.

Harmful or Criminal Past:

Individuals who have completed their sentences for past offenses can share their work on Fundym. Fundym may ban any creator who is found guilty of making credible violent threats or actions, child abuse, malicious doxing, coordinating violence (such as money laundering and gambling), or encouraging other people to do these things.

Dangerous Organizations

Fundym may not allow people directly linked to dangerous or violent groups such as terrorist or cyber-terrorist organizations, organized criminal groups, or violent hate groups.

These groups may be discussed by creators in their content for reporting, educational, or debunking reasons. Fundym account removal may be possible if you actively support these groups and their leaders.

Illegal and harmful activities

Funds cannot be used to facilitate illegal or harmful activities. For example, funds cannot be used to fund activities that promote, threaten or show you are causing harm to other people, animals, or yourself. You cannot also promote illegal activities like property crime, drug distribution, and weapon distribution.

Self-harm

Any page that glorifies or promotes self-harm is not allowed. This includes pages that encourage self-injury, suicide, or eating disorders. Pages that promote self-scarification and a pro-anorexia campaign are examples. We will cooperate with law enforcement if we feel there is a risk that the creator might harm themselves. We will allow creations that raise awareness, such as stories about self-harm survival stories if they are educational.

If you or someone close to you might be in danger of hurting themselves, please get in touch with local authorities or seek help: http://www.suicide.org/suicide-hotlines.html

Illegal activity

We do not allow pages that solicit money for illegal purposes or encourage others to violate the law. We do not allow creators to promote illegal weapons, drug distribution techniques, or property crime. We will review every case individually. We allow street art, but we won't accept creations that encourage or organize vandalism.

Dangerous Activities:

We require dangerous stunt creators to add a disclaimer. If these posts are too graphic or hazardous for a general audience, we ask that they be designated as "Fundym Only".

Teen safety:

Fundym will not tolerate grooming or other forms of abuse that target minors. Fundym will remove users who actively facilitate or attempt to exploit children this way. After removal, we will notify all users involved in this activity to the legal authorities.

Disinformation:

Fundym won't fund any creations that promote medical misinformation about Covid-19 or misinformation regarding the propagation of QAnon conspiracy theories.

Spam

It can be challenging to build a fundymer community, but spamming is not something people like to do. Don't spam other members with unwelcome messages or repetitive comments.

These are just a few of the spamming actions that Fundym considers to be illegal.

  • Do not create pledge schemes.
  • Fundym should not be used to link to malware or other phishing schemes.
  • To increase your patronage, don't post misleading messages.
  • Do not comment on pages of other creators to promote your page.
  • Do not send too many private messages to ask for help.
  • Don't use incorrect tagging to drive more search results.
  • If you're a per-post author, don't post more than one paid post per day.

We will distinguish between spam that is commercial and spam that is friendly abuse, such as legitimate creators spamming pages of other creators. If the spam is considered friendly abuse, we will flag the account. Repeat offenses will result in the complete removal of the creator and fundymer pages. Fundym will not allow commercial spamming from accounts that aren't legitimate creators. Also, spamming accounts that are not legitimate creators will be removed from Fundym.

Patron accounts

These Community Guidelines are for patrons as well as creators. We empower creators to manage their communities. However, the Trust and Safety team may review reports for inappropriate behavior.

The Trust and Safety team carefully reviews all reports regarding hate speech, harassment, and solicitation. If a fundymer account violates these guidelines, we will take appropriate action. Allows creators to report fundymer posts. Follow these instructions. These reviews are confidential. You should not feel unsafe if a fundymer stalks or harasses you. Instead, contact your local police and the nearest cybercrime unit. They will have the best tools and resources to assist you. Fundym will cooperate with law enforcement during an investigation and if a law enforcement agency gives us a subpoena.

Financial advice content:

Fundym believes in creator safety and fundymer safety. Therefore, we encourage our readers to seek out licensed financial professionals before making any investment decisions.

Chargebacks:

When individuals or, in Fundym's instance, fundymers, contact their financial institutions to dispute a transaction, they are called chargebacks. Fundym may stop fundymers subscribing to additional creators while it reviews excessive or fraudulent chargebacks. In addition, Fundym may suspend or terminate an account if it is found that a fundymer has made fraudulent chargebacks. Has more information on chargebacks. These policies are part Fundym's Terms and Conditions. For more information, contact Fundym at guidelines@fundym.com.
